FTP Connections

This tutorial explains how to connect to your account via FTP. To establish an FTP connection you need an FTP account with which you can upload your files. You can also create additional FTP accounts for other users.

To add new FTP accounts, click on the FTP Accounts tool icon from the Files section of your control panel.

It assumes you have first logged into your control panel.

  1. Choose the domain you would like to add the FTP account to. You can do that by selecting the domain name from the drop-down box on the top-left.
  2. Click Edit Users.
  3. Click Add a website FTP access user (on the far-right).
  4. In the Email Address, enter the name for the new FTP account.
  5. Enter the FTP user's name in the Real Name field.
  6. You can enter a password in the Password field if you wish to override the random password that it puts there by default.
  7. Click Create.

FTP Clients

With an FTP Client (such as FileZilla, Cyberduck or Transmit) uploading/downloading a file is really easy. Furthermore, FTP clients have some extra features. For example, you can resume a download that did not finish successfully. This is a very nice feature for people with slower Internet connections.
